The last name GERNDT is quite rare in Germany. My father and uncles carried out some ancestry research. The oldest ancestor they could find was Daniel Friedrich Gerndt, born 1769. He died 1841, April 28, in Freienwalde, Pommerania.
He had a son also called Daniel Friedrich (born 1802, Nov. 8, Freienwalde), whose son August Wilhelm Friedrich was born on 1843, Feb. 10, Freienwalde. His son August Friedrich (born 1875, Oct. 7, Ball) had a son called Albert (born 1901, Mai 24, Langenhagen) who had two children (Siegfried Lothar, 1924, Oct. 8; Elisabeth, 1926, Jan. 31) with his first wife and four children (Karl-Heinz Erich, 1928, Nov. 1; Ingrid Elise Ernstine, 1934, Sep. 17; Ernst, 1935, Dec. 15; Hans-Eckhard, 1938, Mai 16) with his second wife. At the end of the Second World War, they had to flee from Pommerania.
Hans-Eckhard was my father. I was born 1965, have one brother (Thorsten, 1967) and a son (Christian Darius, 2005), which completes my branch of the GERNDT family tree.
